Thanks for your help. I don't think it's a driver issue, USB drivers are pretty standard. I thought USB 3 needed a special driver and even Windows 7 doesn't have a native driver. I wouldn't know about that, but it should default to USB2. The port accepts both connections. I never heard of a USB3 flash drive and I would assume those work when you plug them in.

Thanks again for all tips and advice. I only see a bit driver for the USB 3 port.. But it may not do you any good, the recovery disk needs 32bit drivers. What does it show as "provider" does it say Microsoft or Dell? That driver that Red posted a link to has 32bit drivers in it.
